Janey didn't ask for the life of a costumed adventurer. She was content to teach at the women's center, counseling other victims of rape and abuse, and teaching ballet and self-defense classes. Of course, she didn't know that her best friend Cynara was also the superpowered heroine known as Permafrost either, and when Cynara's boyfriend, the original Swan, took his final bow, Janey found it hard to refuse when she asked her to don the hero's feathers.
Janey's been operating as The Swan for the last five years and she's found a home in the quaint upstate New York village of Lake Andersen, home of her predecessor. There have been a few grudge-seeking encounters with her namesake's old enemies, but lately she's found herself part of a nationwide organization of costumed do-gooders all calling themselves Swans.
As her predecessor was fond of saying, "We are all ducks by birth, we become swans by choice."
Janey is now the poster child for S.O.S.: The Society of Swans.
